R.J. & Lexi's Nicaraguan Schoolhouse Project Fundraiser - Join R.J. and Lexi Widman this Saturday from 3pm until closing at 3am. They are raising funds through tips and donations for the school they are building in Nicaragua in August. There will be drawings for cash and prizes from 7pm until midnight. Please be generous!

MSU Alumni Club of Metro Chicago Annual Picnic for Incoming Freshmen and Parents. - 1pm until 4pm. By invitation. The MSU Alumni Club of Metro Chicago is hosting a picnic for incoming freshmen to MSU and their parents. Complimentary burgers, brats, hot dogs, chicken sandwiches, soft drinks and water provided.

39th Annual Big Ten Kickoff Luncheon - This year's luncheon will be held at the Hyatt Regency - McCormick Place, 2233 South Martin Luther King Drive. Cost $100. We will have our usual table of 10 and we are now SOLD OUT! As more details become available, we will post them.

Michigan State Alumni Club of Metro Chicago - Annual Cubs Outing - Cost MSUAA Members $45, non members $55. Includes Louisiana style brunch beginning at 11am at Higgins, featuring Creole Breakfast Bread Pudding, Cajun Stew, jambalaya, fresh fruits, coffee, juices and more. Basically, we will have everything except the jazz band. Also included is your game ticket in section 538 for the Cubs vs. Atlanta Braves, at 1:20. A $10 contribution to the Club's scholarship fund is also included in the cost of the package. Reservations taken with payment. Visa, MasterCard and Discover accepted. We have 50 tickets for this event, 43 remain.

Annual Neighborhood Appreciation Block Party - Noon to 7pm. School Street will be closed from Racine Avenue east to the alley. Higgins' Tavern will provide complimentary burgers, brats, hot dogs and chicken sandwiches. You may purchase beverages at the tavern or bring your own for outside consumption. We have requested an "in service" stop from the Chicago Fire Department.

Michigan State at Northwestern Bus Trip and Tailgate Party - We will be doing a bus trip and tailgate party for this game. We know that kickoff is 11am and the buses will leave here at 8am. Final details after August 9 when we get tickets.
